Following the coming into effect of new cab drivers (Y-plate drivers) rules on Monday, the 17th of July, applicants for a Single Permit as Y-plate drivers must possess a valid Maltese or other EU country driving licence. Failure to do so will result in an application refusal.

Identity Malta Agency strongly advises third-country national citizens to verify they have a valid Maltese or EU country driver’s licence before completing and submitting their single permit application to avoid inconvenience. Once a Single Permit application is submitted, refunds are not possible.
